A native of Los Angeles, California, Deneen has always embraced her inner-city upbringing along with the diverse culture and has always had a heart and connection to her community. With the God-given gift of discernment she has cultivated and nurtured a sister-circle of friends that dates back to her early childhood. Deneen attributes her walk with God to a personal encounter while attending the University of Southern California (USC) where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration. Her tenacity, work ethic and faith served as her foundation as she completed her formal education with a Master in Business Administration.
In 2005, Deneen married Darrell Carter and stepped into the role as bonus mom to sons Taj and Chaz as a blended family. The Carter’s later welcomed their daughter Alyssa as they completed their family of five. Deneen and her family have enjoyed world-wide travel, and their love for music, skiing and snowboarding and other activities that have afforded them an opportunity to create many fond memories.
With over 25 years of success as a healthcare executive, and real estate investor, Deneen has always made it her priority to seek God’s wisdom before making any moves. This defining quality of prayer first has been a guiding force in her business acumen. Deneen stands firm in her philosophy that “God will get HIS resources to whomever HE can get HIS resources through” combined with the adoration, support and encouragement from her mother the vision for this ministry was born. She continues to glean wisdom, prayer, unconditional love, support, a shoulder, and an ear from her mother, LaVonne Hemmitt, and this was the inspiration for creating In My Mother’s Name Ministries. Deneen wanted to honor the Lord and her mother by establishing this organization dedicated to giving other women what she has received from her mother. It is Deneen’s sincere desire to welcome like-minded women who will work to create a legacy of strong, wise, God-fearing women who desire to bless others and touch the world one soul at a time.
